For the fifth year in a row, West Coast Nissan joined the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada’s Big Bike Event. Filling the Big Bike at Memorial Peace Park on May 4th in Maple Ridge, the Car-Diac Cruisers raised over $4500 while stopping traffic to raise awareness and funds for heart disease and stroke research.
In the wake of the tragic events surrounding the Humboldt Broncos, there is not one Canadian who remains unaffected. When it comes to hockey, many Canadians would claim it’s what unites us.
In the spirit of unity, Canadians everywhere have been looking for ways to show support. Whether it be through placing a hockey stick on their porch or collectively wearing jerseys, Canadians have been showing up.
West Coast Nissan chose to honour those affected by the Humboldt Broncos accident by wearing jerseys. The staff sported their jerseys on Thursday, April 12, 2018, while Canadians across the country did the same. In the same spirit, we ask that those looking for a way to help those affected to please visit the team’s GoFundMe page. The entire West Coast Auto Group is joining in support by matching the donations raised by the employees of $1313, for a total of $2626.

All across Canada, the Nissan Kickoff Project is strengthening grassroots Canadian football and bringing a breath of new life into our local communities. 2016 is the third year of the Nissan Kickoff Project, helping provide support and funding to high school football programs nationwide.
This year, the Nissan Kickoff Project is helping nearly 1,200 students from 26 schools nationally in 24 cities and eight provinces coast-to-coast. Providing specific support the teams need to play football including:
Financial funding
Equipment
Uniforms
Motivational events
The Nissan Kickoff Project is starting with 12 schools in seven provinces, including our local secondary school here in Pitt Meadows!
Pitt Meadows Secondary School had the honour of being one of the high school football programs selected for the Nissan Kickoff Project.
On September 16th, Thomas Byrne and Mike Poelzer brought a 2016 Titan over to Pitt Meadows Secondary School and joined up with Nissan Canada to present the $3,500 donation from Nissan Canada.
Pitt Meads Secondary School was randomly selected by Nissan Canada and chose to use this donation towards travel expenses for the players. Two BC Lions players also attended to help present the cheque. The kids were pumped up, to say the least!
Nissan has been a proud sponsor of the CFL for ten years now, and their involvement is integral to the success every year of the Nissan Kickoff Project!
